Tapping or EFT
Definition: EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques or Tapping and in essence, it is an emotional version of acupuncture. They stimulate certain meridian points on the body by tapping on them with your fingertips while you concentrate on your issue.
There was best seller called The Tapping Solution and even a EFT or Tapping for Dummies book.
I really dragged my feet on trying this one. My counselor recommended it. One of the Cooper Hospital EAP counselors teaches a class on it. I finally gave in and tried it. Even alone I felt like an idiot. Tapping my head and talking to myself. But again, struggles make you open minded.
I started tapping as I drove to and from work. I hoped none of my coworkers were in traffic nearby. I’m sure I looked ridiculous.
I tapped. I drove. I recited my issues. I kept an eye out for people I knew.
So what do I think? I’m embarrassed to say I think it helped with anxiety. Maybe it took my mind off things. Maybe it unblocked my Chi. Ok, I don’t even know what that means.
Would I recommend it? Sure. Why not? No cost. No side effects. Might help.
Just avoid mirrors. You look crazy. But hey, it might make you feel a little less crazy. Give it a try.
